About the Client:
National Medical Fellowhips provides need-based and merit scholarships to Black, Indigenous, Latine, and People of Color students of medicine and other health professions and works to increase diversity in clinical research.
The Problem:
National Medical Fellowships had a website with a very outdated design and was difficult to navigate. It was hard to quickly tell what the organization does, there was no way to easily see the impact they have, and it was hard for users to find scholarships.
The Solution:
We went through a long process of reviewing pages and putting together a better site map. It’s still more complicated than I would have liked, but it’s a huge improvement over what we started with. We designed a mega menu so they could include a photo and intro paragraph for each section on hover, and could display 3rd-level links when needed so that every page can be reached in one click.
For scholarships, I created a searchable and filterable database so users can easily find opportunities based on multiple criteria.
I created a more modern visual design for them and streamlined their homepage content to focus on who NMF is and the impact they have. I also helped them write headlines and choose photography.
